As a late boomer, I'm supposed to be part of the "suck it up" crowd. Frankly though, it's just a job. "Baby's ain't dying" was a phrase we'd repeat at a previous job when faced with an irrational fire drill.

Will I work early/late? Of course - provided that's the exception rather than the rule and/or there is fair compensation.

At my last stop, after 2 years of working 5AM-11PM, having 1 of 2 successful orgs (out of 15) in the company, and still being screamed at by my boss (and hers) I jumped ship and never looked back. (I'm told it's gotten even worse...)

I've got a hundred stories like this - but fact is (as others have mentioned in the comments here) that the choice to leave or stay requires wisdom. I don't possess a lot of that - but I do know that there is no place in my life for toxicity, particularly at work.
