As someone who has a degree in religion and has been attending church for almost 60 years, I always enjoy the smugness of someone telling me how to interpret the bible and prophecies.

"If only you'd learned the truth"

Been there, done that - just 'cuz you've found your pied piper, doesn't mean you've learned a damn thing.

"Jesus is coming back soon - be ready"

His followers have been saying this for over 2000 years - after Jesus was crucified his disciples were pitching tents next to the temple wall in Jerusalem so they could be ready when he returned. They knew the man personally, you do not - and yet somehow you know the truth?

Here's some truth.

It doesn't matter when or even if Jesus is returning.

(gasp)

Feed the poor. Heal the sick. House the homeless. Seems like a pretty good way to prep, and there's the added benefit of actually doing what was commanded in that book you like to wave around.

Nothing in there about abortion, gay marriage, constitutional rights about masking in public or keeping the brown people out of your country - so why have those items become the focal point of your religion?

You act as if we're all teenagers throwing a party while our parents are out of town, waiting until the last minute to knock it off and clean up the house - with you being the lookout to let us know when they've left the airport and are on their way home.

You've been saying this for 2000 years now based on nothing but feelings and projections - you haven't been right before, so why start now?
