Capitalism as practiced in the US has become our defacto national religion. The dogma of "let the markets decide" cannot be questioned or analyzed anymore and is fiercely defended by a functionally illiterate society that thinks a Facebook meme is "doing my research".

Boggles my mind when trying to have a rational conversation and get shut down like I'm trying to discuss evolution with an evangelical. When Nobel laureates cannot agree due to extraordinary complexities, I seriously doubt that a cursory reading of Genesis is going to provide as clear an answer as they believe...
