Every family is different.
That having been said, our last intimate gathering of 40 mostly trumpers and children of immigrants from shit hole countries did pretty ok. Yeah, the election did come up and the usual (ridiculously) uneducated reasons for supporting him were offered up as holy relics found in the dead sea scrolls.

We did ok biting our tongues for about 5 minutes out of 4 hours — not the place, time or the group for nuanced discussion about tariffs, immigration, or fiscal policy. The family is still intact(ish), although I am not looking forward with any enthusiasm for a Thanksgiving invite.

In our case, dying on the maga hill wasn’t worth the price — but it might be in your family…
