Fact is that there is ALWAYS money to be had for the supposed "winners" who completely tank our economy every couple of decades or so and skate away free and clear - usually with performance bonuses.
Universal healthcare and infrastructure maintenance are too expensive, so we wait hold our breathes and wish really hard that nothing bad happens - until it does. Then we panic-spend our way out of it without addressing the (too-expensive) root causes. Rinse and Repeat.
