HR and Marketing are two areas where folks think "anyone can do it" and just stick the people with no skills or curiosity (mostly).
If I had a dollar for every interview I had to conduct myself b/c the person on the other end had no clue what they were doing. Turned off a lot of companies, but also weeded out a lot of bad ones at the same time.
Fun fact: I work in a marketing dept now with amazing people who are actually fkn brilliant at their jobs. They do exist, but very, very rare and most don't last long for the same reasons listed by Felicia here...
