I don't believe this - but what if the intention was for the far right to actually go through with it? They already learned he can't be controlled and isn't a true believer anyway. He knows too much and has zero impulse control.
Additionally, b/c the Dems are screwing this up so badly - Haley would probably win in a landside and give 'em everything they want.
