I stared at the blinking cursor on my screen for what seemed like an hour as a lifetime’s worth of lost friendships swirled around me.
Lost because the situations and events that brought us together no longer existed and we hadn’t built relationships separate from them.
Lost because the certainties of the world that kept us tight inside the circle became the same inflexible agents that created toxic walls.
Lost because one moved on and the other couldn’t.
Lost because of distance.
Lost because we came together to fill a need and one found the strength say “I am enough”.
Lost because we got tired of playing a role that no longer fit.
It’s ok.
I carry pieces of all of you with me everywhere and am grateful that the universe brought us together however briefly. You are loved and remembered, even if we can never be together again.
