I was prepared to disagree - but found your illustrations to be spot on. Perhaps it's not that in-person meetings aren't valuable though - it's the lack of a clear agenda and specific outcomes that need to be shared ahead of time.
I try and follow this practice - we'll be talking about xyz and need consensus/direction on abc...
Please prep for our call and I'm happy to answer questions in advance to make the meeting efficient as I respect everyone's time.
No one likes the prep work - they get lazy and think they can just hop on a call and talk through things - there is also not much of a trail of things go sideways later ..
