Just took the keys from my 88-year old father who came to the same realization that most of us had 12 months ago...

It's an early model S that nobody in our family likes to either drive or be driven in - we need one of those stickers.

After fixing the car (3 trips to Tesla service in 6 weeks - an indy shop fixed it in 30 minutes) my 21-year old is driving it temporarily while he looks for something to replace his 175k mile Infiniti. He's not a fan, but the electrons are free as long as he pays rent to keep his old room - so he's in favor of that.

My experiences mirror yours, in that for every really cool thing the car does, there are 2 that really suck.

The car died on me with 80% charge remaining with a "high-voltage battery doesn't have enough power to continue" error message. In traffic. Never did find those emergency flashers until 2 days later. There's a reason that button is big and red - so you don't have to hunt for a 1/4" button the same color as the dashboard trim. Oh - of course the 12v battery was dead, even though it had been replaced 3 times by Tesla in the last 2 months(!). Guess what the real problem was? The tire pressure sensor system was faulty. Yup - a faulty TPMS sensor rendered that rolling bit of high-tech into a very expensive paper weight that cost a small fortune to tow and have properly repaired.

I really, really don't like this car...
