Life is complicated and my voice carries little weight. Although my kids are bi-racial and I've been an active member of an African-American church for more than 15 years - about all I feel qualified to do is raise questions.
(Note: It makes me ill to think about performing for the assholes in the upcoming administration - I personally would not give them one ounce of legitimacy)

My reflex though is almost always - "on the other hand"...

In both 1936 and 1968 there were strong voices in the community pushing for Olympic boycotts. I believe history has shown that participating was the correct call. The legacies of Jesse Owens, Walter Carlos and Dr. Tommy Smith achieved far more good than by staying home.

Does that mean I believe MVSU should participate in the inauguration? Fk no - but it is up to the individual musicians to decide - not me.
