Like so many topics (guns for one) it's almost impossible to have a rational discussion in order to bolster the needed support to change the status quo.
Folks point to Fukushima and Chernobyl to end the argument - as if they represented either the state of the art in reactor design or even future possibilities. (Also disregarding actual damage done by fossil-fuel plants)
As you have pointed out in other posts, there are many extremely promising nuclear technologies on the horizon that need to be explored free of the stigmas attached to 70-year old designs.
