lots of *friends "fleeing" the disaster that is California (lol) for Texas that are going to be in for a very rude awakening!
There is this myth that Texas is just like California, only with "freedom" (and better bbq).
Don't get me wrong - I love parts of Texas and had an office there until last year - however I look at any state as if I were looking at someone's Instagram feed. You see the shiny family photo of everyone around the Christmas tree and you don't see the 2 hours that went into constructing that false reality.
-The tears of the little ones being forced to focus for far too long.
-The uncle in the background being propped up by hands on either side after downing a dozen beers before lunch.
-The older cousin who should probably have not gotten that early release from that halfway house.
-The wife who wonders why "family values" mean that she has to stay with an abusive husband for the "sake of the children".
No lie - we've got our own issues here in LaLa Land - but whoever does the marketing for Texas has been doing a bang-up job lately...
