Not to paint with too broad a brush - however I hear the same things from my wife's family who immigrated from Indonesia by way of The Netherlands. "We came here the right way" is a very common refrain by those in her generation who were born here anyway. In truth, they don't really know how a single mother from a shit-hole country (t-rumps words - not mine) came here with 8 children. They certainly didn't have to wait in line for 15 years, nor did they have any family members in the US already. But sure - keep using those words - "we came here the right way"
