People are assholes

Tim, I could write a book that would answer all your questions and with a little luck I might even get 25% of them right. My wife is Indonesian and my ancestors came here from various Western European countries between 150 and 200 years ago. With both of us being medium build, brown hair/eyes you can almost picture our kids.

Genetics is funny and wonderful

They are both well over six feet tall with green/hazel eyes. The blonde one who looks whiter than me is fluent in Mandarin which never fails to catch folks off guard when he opens his mouth.

They are beautifully and wonderfully made - each their own bit of perfection - which your daughter will be as well.

We don't refer to "race" in our family - that's an artificial construct - and pisses my wife off everytime she's asked to fill out a form. (You do NOT want to be the person on the other side of the counter who asks this question!) "Ethnicity" is cool with her though and I have to agree.

I'm excited to see your writing change as you begin this amazing journey. You can't imagine your life with your daughter right now - and very shortly you won't be able to imagine it without her.
