Sadly, far too many on the religious right have confused politics with Christianity - when Jesus himself made it pretty clear that he didn't give a rip about the former - and frankly, the latter either...
They cherry-pick the bible, misread the narrative, and then see themselves playing a different part in the play that they think they are.
