So - during the height of the pandemic, we designated some workers as "essential" - with the majority of them being the lowest-paid members of the workforce who received almost no benefits.
"Do your part for the country - we all need you" was the message - but we (still) won't cover your health insurance or raise your wages - you're lucky you still have a job...
Instead, all that money was sucked out of the bottom and deposited at the top - because, you know, "capitalism". Just how essential are CEOs when shipping containers are piled up on docks and ships are lined up from here to Hawaii?
