So many changes and little to no preparation for them. It's true that children don't come with an instruction manual - except they do - it's the parent's own experiences growing up to a large degree. Problem is that the rules are vastly different now, so the manual is hopelessly wrong and outdated.
One small example: I live next door to the house I grew up in, which is a block away from a large elementary school. Those fields were used for everything when I was growing up. Not a "park" per se, but it might as well have been. Now the school is locked at all times except for brief periods in the mornings and afternoons during the school year to let the students in and out. The closest outdoor area to play now? 2 miles away...
