Stay with me for a second -
I seriously don't mind if people in power makes decisions using their faith as a guide. For folks of any religion, I don't know how they would make decisions in a moral vacuum - heck, everyone makes 'em based on their personal world views - whether or not an idea of "god" is involved or not. Certainly one could do a while lot worse than having "heal the sick, help the poor, etc" for guiding principles. Certainly better than "screw everyone else, I'm getting mine."
What scares the ever-loving sht out of me though, are fanatics of any kind. Every action, no matter how reprehensible, is justified in the service of their "higher power".
When Johnson smirks and says "it's all in the Bible" when asked about a decision or policy, I just want to smack him and anyone else who takes that position.
No - it's not all fkn "in there"! Or rather - it pretty much is - one can take almost any position on any subject, pull a couple of verses out of a particular translation and give 'em a shake to justify almost anything. (Spoiler: it has)
Frankly, I was amazed to hear Johnson explain "his" version of separation of church and state - which to him, meant exactly the opposite.
If this bunch of theocrats doesn't scare folks enough to finally send them packing next year - we don't deserve to govern ourselves - which will be convenient as that will no longer be the case.
