Thank you for taking my almost throwaway comment and turning it into something much more reasoned and well communicated. I actually got a couple of condescending responses along the lines of "if you understood how economics works..."

I understand just fine, thank you very much - and here is a much (x100) piece to prove it. Great stuff here - albeit depressing as I have zero faith in human nature and even less in our political will to fix the situation
