Thank you for writing this, Tessa - lots of nuggets in here.
I've become exhausted trying to counter the "jobs creator" myth that all my ("lacking critical thinking skills ") relatives push as they vote against their own self-interests and loudly support the billionaires of the world. ("It's their money - They earned it fair and square")
You know what creates jobs? Demand for goods and services.
You know how you create demand for those very same goods and services? You put money in the hands of those who are working full-time jobs, have a side-hustle (they call it a second job, actually), and still need food stamps to feed their families.
You don't create demand by having recent college graduates spend 125% of their monthly take-home pay on poor food, shitty apartments and student loan debt.
You don't create demand by giving Jeff Bezos a tax break. You make sure his workers make a living (not starvation) wage.
Funny (not) how we can't distribute health care, food, education, other resources to lower income people in this country because they might take advantage of the situation. What in the heck does anyone think billionaires do to acquire their wealth in the first place???
