The healthcare system in the US, being driven by profit, encourages treatment rather than prevention — that’s one big difference.

Statistically speaking, socialized medicine in developed countries delivers superior care at a lower cost. Inserting a group (insurance companies) who’s sole reason for existence is deriving profit for their shareholders is not a value-add as far as I’m concerned — hence the intentionally obtuse insurance policies we’re forced to glean meaningful information as if they were fragments of the dead sea scrolls.

Fact is that we’ve been brainwashed in this country to believe (irrationally) with every fiber of our being that “our system” is the best in the world — actually statistics and evidence to the contrary. Nikki Haley’s response is far too common and is usually delivered by those who happen to have one of those platinum-plated policies that cover everything with a zero deductible.

The sad part is hearing the other 99% crow about how great it is here compared to the rest of the world, while shelling out thousands of $$ for deductibles and indifferent care with almost zero incentivized prevention.
