That has to be one of the most frustrating parts of our country - the need to be vigilant at all times - particularly against people and ideas that have been defeated over and over and over. You blink - and suddenly they slip in. Democracy seems to be so precariously balanced that it needs constant care and attention to keep from tumbling from the high wire.

As you've pointed out several times before - the foundations of our democracy are not as stable as we'd like to think and those weaknesses have been exploited very well by the current crop of "leaders"
