yes and no - I just wrote above about my personal experience. Same home in the early 60's represented less than 2-1/2x annual salary and now is closer to 30x(!). (Obviously the same home isn't any bigger than it was 60 years ago :)

Your point is valid - completely agree - although it isn't the sole reason for the price increases.
